“Try not. Do or do not!! There is no try” – Yoda

YodaHe might be a fictional funny looking old green guy but he is freaking wise. The quote means that one should not approach a task with the attitude that only an attempt will be made. Instead, when approaching a task the mentality should be to either accomplish it or not. This is especially true with building a business on a part-time basis.

Henry Ford once said,

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t—you’re right”.

When you use the word “try”, you are essentially saying you don’t believe you have what it takes to make what you said come true.

I’m going to try to work out more

I’m going to try to eat better

I’m going to try to start a business

I’m going to try to read more

I’m going to try to spend more time with my family

When you use the word “try”, this is basically a safe word in case you fail. “I know I didn’t lose weight but at least I tried.” Now you can pat yourself on the back, feel good and go eat a cookie because you tried.

Believe in yourself and commit. You can’t accomplish many of the things you set out to do simply because you don’t believe.

Eliminate self doubt by changing your vocabulary. The words you use can either be used to reflect or dictate your life. Remove“try” from your vocabulary and dictate the direction your life. Replace “try” with “work”.

Trying is an excuse and working is an action.

Imagine how life would be if you accomplished all the goals you set out to achieve. Isn’t that a life worth pursuing? You deserve greatness and the only thing between you and achieving it is saying that you will “try”. Set goals and crush them. Your success depends on it.
